A Break For Me

Posted by: lyksell on: December 2, 2008

At last, I have finished all the project that need to be ended before December 2008. Now, I am enjoying my 1 week holiday. There’s a lot of plan for the 5 days break, I think will not able to finish all of them as what planned.

The first day activity already exited my planned time, I went to banks, to settle all kind of stupid transaction blocking (by the bank, of course), which actually took me nicely 5 hours to settle them! Which actually I planned to spend about 2-3 hours for all these stupid stuff. I was tired like hell after running up and down, waiting in the queue, waiting for them to verify their internal policies (which themselves are not clear).

Back to home, drop to the sofa, and doze off, there goes my another half day. Time fly, and, I already having this thought since I was 15 years old, or earlier ??? Maybe, a city life model had already putting pressure on me even since I was kid….what a sad story for all the city kids……..

Digging Your Own Well

Posted by: lyksell on: November 27, 2008

And a good news, the ‘don’t care’ policy really works well, especially in big corporate. Boss is forced to handle some of my tasks, which he knows I didn’t really taking care or bother to care of.

Maybe people reading this blog would think I am kind of trying to kill my career ? Nope nope nope nope. Let me tell you a story, which I have just read from a magazine. BTW, it is a out-dated magazine given out for free during my visit to the 10th Book fair held in MINES Exhibition hall.

2 monks from 2 temples meet each other every morning when they try to fetch some water from a river up for daily use. They meet everyday, and this goes along for 5 years. Until one day, one of the monk didn’t turn up in one of the morning, and next morning and the next next morning. The other monk wanted to know if his friend is sick, so he went to visit this monk. Surprisingly, he found that actually the monk was playing some ‘tai chee’ at the backyard of the temple. Wonder why he need no water to survive, he told the stupid monk, everyday, he will spare a little bit of his time, to dig from ground to make a well, after 5 years, the well reach the water spot, and he has water to use without needing to go down to the river anymore.

This teach you, you should dig your own well, while you are doing your normal and daily task, that is, your current job. Build up yourself, the company you are working with will not feel a single sorry if they have to fire you. As, they already make themselves very clear, I have pay you every month on what you have done for us, no body owe anybody.

So, do you agree with this statement ?

What you know AND WHO you know ?

Posted by: lyksell on: November 25, 2008

I think my strategy of don’t care really taking some effect ? All the while, boss is taking advantage of me, don’t care anything thinking I will do them all, without complain. I worked > 10 hours everyday, but nobody see it. In a corporate life, it is not what you know, it is who you know. I know a lot, but I don’t know anybody.

Now, I started to practice my 9-5 routine, things couldn’t be fix, don’t bother, if it is after 5pm, sorry lah……Then, people starts to turn to him, as my response is ‘nanti, besok, lusa’. I don’t really care, as I know, nobody will be fired in big corporate because you are responding slow, as I see those that worked for me not even responding do get promoted! It is not about whether you did extra, it is about if you did ‘brush shoes’ extra

Friends, if you are reading, learn it, it is the true fact of life, any if you dislike it, you will be the looser of the game…..

Don’t Sweat over BIG stuff…..

Posted by: lyksell on: November 24, 2008

Last week was a ‘week’-mare for me. Worked non-stop, can’t even sleep at night, too many stuff to handle and prepare for the 23rd Nov testing. OK, it is work related kind of non-sleep diseases I have.

Learned a few new philosophies where it really helps me get a better sleep every night, even if I am under serious stress level.

1. Things will find it’s way, so what’s the point to worry
2. No matter how well you plan, how much effort you spend, some idiot will just come into your way, mess up your plan and effort, so, what’s the point planning so perfect ?
3. If the assignment result turns bad, what is the worst will happened to you ?
a. Jobless, nah, I don’t think so, it takes the company huge lot of $$ to fire 1 employee. If they said you will be first in the list of VSS, still, there are other who never did anything wrong sitting in the same boat with you
b. No bonus or less bonus? Well that could possible, but with current economy who is hoping for bonus?

Phrase of Life

Posted by: lyksell on: November 19, 2008

Some how, I have that mentality…’I don’t care’ anymore, not so keng cheong on the delivery, life become easier, and, I even sleep better nowadays.

Really not worth it to worry so much, because at the end of the day, things that must come sure will come, if they are not coming, then they will not be coming, that simple. Make it short, what I mean is, if you know mandarin, the boat which reach the bay sure will become straight…go translate yourself.

In summary attitude that can survive in corporate life :
1. Phrase of your life within 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday : “Nanti, besok, lusa”
2. Please make sure you remember: Your Colleague is NOT your friend, your friend will not be your colleague
3. It is not what you know, it is who you know that make you different
4. You only need to know when to make questions, you do not need to know the answers
5. Your boss will not promote you, because if you are promoted, where should he be sitting?
6. The ship is just too huge, if one small part is working slow, it won’t impact any body, so, why spend long hour working?

Take this along with you as your survival kids in a ‘corporate’ life………….

Book Fair

Posted by: lyksell on: November 16, 2008

After an early morning work..at last, the server agree to startup and back to normal track. Hence, bringing the 2 small kids, together with hubby, we went to the MINES Chinese Book Fair.

Can’t imagine actually it has been 10 years….but where was it held from the early years ? I don’t remember I heard about it last time ??

It was quite cheap few years back, but this year, we see there are more and more stores on children education software, syllabus, almost 1/3 of the stores. Parents are more willing to spend money on their kids rather then on themselves.

I bought a few Chinese books from local publisher for my kids too, they were not a lot cheaper, from RM4.00 to RM3.50. But I have never see these books being in discount from the bookstores. While for myself, I took those free reading books and magazines… got to cut down the expenses after share market drop so heavily….

God please help me with mercy

Posted by: lyksell on: November 15, 2008

Is it this is a season of down time? Having another round of downtime again…worked late in the evening, and then start to work again in the morning…..there go my Saturday, hmmm…what happen if they wanted to extend that to Sunday, well can tear me up to 2 pieces, half for the server problem, another half for the scheduled test for this Sunday.

By then, I should be paid double, right ?

Monday after a working Sunday

Posted by: lyksell on: October 20, 2008

What a day, don’t feel like working at all, just thinking it is not fair, company only pay me 1 day for working on Sunday ….

It is a Monday, bad traffic day for sure, unless it is a seasonal greeting holiday. Working from home loh….

Good to have the option of ‘work from home’, but I could see it is mostly being abused, more benefit to the employee rather to the employer, not a win-win solution.

No matter what, ordinary human need some form of control from the boss… unless we are those special legendary leaders, such as Warren Buffer, Bill Gate who can discipline themselves, btw they are working hard for their own pocket, for us, who work for monthly wages, who cares ….

Best Employers 2008

Putting My Luck to a Temple ?!

Posted by: lyksell on: October 28, 2008

Both me and my hubby feel we are not so ‘lucky’ recently. Right after we moved into the new house, our house was then break in within the same month !

Then, next door started their renovation, after being vacant for years ….. and, the noisy life begin….. Normally, they will start work especially drilling on Saturday and Sunday. Or, they will start work around noon time ….

Then, luck still seeks not that good, the fish that my hubby have all die……

Then, we go temple… to pray pray … no choice lah …. if you believe in luck, meaning you are believing in something that’s un-seen, un-touch….

Brilliant Hotfix !

Posted by: lyksell on: October 24, 2008

A very tired day, server die again…..really suck software, always want to lie down before weekend, or during holidays…..shit….

Worked until 9pm then only resolve the problem, some more is a very minor problem, why take all those ‘expert’ so long to resolve a simple M*M* application problem? Which only a reinstallation is required?

One lesson learned; whenever you patch your hotfixes from that famous software company, make sure you read the details carefully, don’t play play man…..though sometime they themselves donnu what they are writing there…..

We suspect is a patch caused the problem, we uninstall that stupid patch, reinstall that M*M* software which refused to run, and it starts to work normally. Then, we install back the stupid hotfix, then the abang adik M*M* still work fine  …. What the @#$% brilliant approach to troubleshoot this kind of clever software……

Festival Celebration

Posted by: lyksell on: October 27, 2008

Today is Deepavali Holiday, don’t really see much decoration around. We went to the mega mall, funny thing is we see the central lobby is not with Deepavali decoration, but a very elegant branded perfume booth….

This remind me about the different festival celebrated by Chinese in Malaysia. Among all, I like lantern festival the most. I feel it is the most romantic one, because celebration needed to be at night, carrying different color and design lanterns. Hang them in the dark or carry them walk around the neighborhood.

If not, just sit on the chair outside the house, wait for the moon to appear, real romantic ya…. Sorry, my hubby don’t think that one, to him, lantern festival is a festival to eat expensive mooncake. Yeah, nowadays, 1 piece of mooncake ended up RM 10++, cut them to 4, meaning 1 quarter piece is RM2.50, if you are having a pretty small mouth, 5 bites sure will end the piece, hence each bite is RM0.50, not cheap man…..

Bank

Posted by: lyksell on: October 29, 2008

29/10/08

I went to Public Bank for some counter transaction, and, I totally agreed with some of the bloggers complaining their service ….

They open the shortest time among most of the banks, they open later and close shop earlier then others…and, when I wanted to bank in some coin that have been sitting in my MILO tin without generating any interest for some time. The cashier told me “ Can you separate them first?” What, don’t they have the machine to do that ? If the machine they have couldn’t do that, can’t they go and buy one?

OK, I went to next door, the CIMB bank, and easily, the cashier push all my coin to the machine, and there, the money is in my saving account…..

Good Company, Anyone ??!!

Posted by: lyksell on: October 29, 2008

Received an email from an ex-employee, talking about how un-ethical the employer for dismiss her for her being mentally depressed, her health was impacted seriously during the period with the company  ….

This is kind of shocking news to me, all the way I thought the company is very scare of putting themselves into this kind of potential ‘law suit’ cases… they will not try to dismiss anybody, because it will give a very bad impression to the public, where name to the company is real important …

But her condition is some how do looks true to me, I do feel the same to what she complained, and I don’t think she made that up. She is just not good in those corporate game, working hard doesn’t mean anything in a big corporate..…

That’s why I am starting myself with some other alternative, writing a blog, hoping to start earning and no more dependants to the normal daily job… the job is driving me crazy too, I was sick none stop for months, my weight was dropping seriously and my mood was always bad … no point scarify my life with a stupid peanut earning job, right ?

There go my weekend

Posted by: lyksell on: October 30, 2008

I am still very very unhappy with my boss decision of wanting me to work another midnight in this another weekend….OK, everybody knows the share market is dropping, the economy is in ‘deflation”, that doesn’t mean I need to work like cow for peanut.

Furthermore, I need to take care of the 2 kids because hubby is outstation, no choice, need to call up my parents for help.

I promised myself, I will do well in other beside this peanut paying job.

Let me strike a lottery lah ….

Posted by: lyksell on: November 1, 2008

Parents are here, to help out. But the bb boy just seems to be even more sticky then ever. Seems like he just afraid the grandy will take him away from me J

Now only notice a weekend without hubby is actually nothing very difficult, kids seems to be more behave themselves without the father around. Not that difficult as I imagined, hence work from home will not be a bad choice, provided me or hubby strike a lottery then 24×7 support, go to hell lah ….

Lonely Blog

Posted by: lyksell on: November 3, 2008

I have committed to myself everyday to learn new stuff from the blogging world, but till now, I still don’t find my blog being visited by anybody…got to read more on how to promote my blog. Reading do take me a lot of time, seems like blogging itself is not as easy and simple as I thought….

I have started with those pay per post site, they have great deal of information, I trust them more then those ‘marketing’ site, tell you and promise you with excellent income after buying their product and etc etc…

Platinum Card

Posted by: lyksell on: November 4, 2008

It was quite a surprise the bank sent me a platinum card ! Still thinking should I keep it ? Well, feeling different from others when you show your platinum card is really not a bad feeling ….J

Will checkup what kind of fees I need to pay them, I was having 1 frequent used card, with 2 free for life credit card which is meant for emergency. But recently, my ‘collection’ has been rise up to 7 cards… which kind of out of control. I couldn’t remember where they are (cos I don’t use them that frequent), which card will expired from the free member fees … which card I have not pay them ……

Year End

Posted by: lyksell on: November 5, 2008

Very busy, year end, need to complete my year end review, ‘eat porridge or eat rice’ is depends on it lah….

This is the most headache period, need to make the story big, but not until boss not agreeing on you, but can’t make it too small, if not you will get an increment then even can’t fight the inflation rate ….

Time to bull shit….

Boring boring boring

Posted by: lyksell on: November 6, 2008

Getting very tired of all the work load I am having, is there any other alternative I can have ? Just couldn’t stand to work 7 days a week, some more 24×7 support ….

This was what I have in previous-previous company, which I quit after working there for 5 years, when the situation got worsen. Now, I am in the same situation again….boss thought I have little bit things to do, when I turn him down on certain assignment, he disagree and push back to me, unless I want to make the relationship sour, I can escalate higher, even the other team member who work closely to me already know my plate is just too full.

So, any other alternative? Oh ya, don’t work for others, work for yourself lah….

Part time

Posted by: lyksell on: November 7, 2008

I am almost half dead, yesterday worked until 9 something, this morning early 8 meeting again. I was only able to brush my teeth by 12 noon.

I have decided to get another part time job, become a mutual fund agent. Maybe will start with myself first, as I am already investing quite some amount into the counters. Let’s see if this is the good journey for a better life.

Looooooong working hour

Posted by: lyksell on: November 8, 2008

I think if I spend the equivalent time as I spend for the peanut job, I should be doing better then now ?

I have been working since 9am on this beautiful Saturday, though on and off I can step away for lunch, take my daughter from Saturday class, but I am still sitting in front of the notebook at this time, 8pm !

And, later on I will not be awake in the midnight for another support task, and, again, tomorrow morning 9am, testers start to test the system. Then have to work on Monday again, and again, coming Sunday will be a working Sunday for me!

I am drying up very fast…no doubt…..

Monkey do

Posted by: lyksell on: November 10, 2008

Can’t imagine with my current age, I still managed to work for 24 hours, with some meal and toilet break in between.

I thought with a big corporate, there always should be a team of expert work together hand in hand to resolve problem, unfortunately, it is the other way round. In my 10 years working life, this current situation is my worst experience.

Yeah, there are a team of member come to monitor you, sorry, not assist you lah… there are a lot people make the talk, but only a monkey make the walk, and of course, you see I am complaining, the monkey is me loh ……

Unit Trust Agent

Posted by: lyksell on: November 11, 2008

Took a day off after working 24 hours. But was very hyperactive, don’t feel sleepy at all…

Went to register myself for the examination to be come a unit trust agent, well, at least I am doing something else, beside only working as a cow…..;-)

Planned to start with myself, as I do invest in unit trust, let myself earn back the commission, then, if things turns out great, why not start it as a part time job ? Maybe I am that kind of good salesman, who can sell a lot leh, some more got free trip, flexible hours, only thing I don’t have is thick skin lah, I think that can be trained, only is are you willing to be trained or not ?

Unit Trust Episod #2

Posted by: lyksell on: March 6, 2009

After being started in this new life, I was in full gear, and, slowly, as predicted by my hubby, now I am almost in zero gear…..what a shame.

I have already exhausted my ‘warm market’ list. This might due to my first ‘helikopter” introduction is just suck…nobody is amused, hence not interested to invest….

Sometimes do feel very low, after making 10 calls, you can’t even secure an appointment, all are mental game, how strong is your mental in handling rejection is the art and it is the key for a success sales person.

Let’s not being so sad, kick start again to full gear…..

Chinese New Year Break

Posted by: lyksell on: February 5, 2009

Have been busy for weeks preparing the Chinese New Year celebration. Then, we went to Phuket for a holiday,it has been about 7 years I didn’t step out from Malaysia, just wondering how could I stand and last that long ?

Phuket is a nice place, but, filled with foreigners….just wondering why there’s not many Asian tourists…the things are consider super duper expensive for Thailand. A bow of mixed rice cost you 60B or more…..

Well, if you ask me, I will not go back twice….there are more places to visit, andthey looked the same to Malaysia, well, Malaysia have more beautiful Island…..with beautiful coral….

The Thai are still friendly, they are really happy go lucky type….and, they are hardworking too…. I saw the tailor started work around 8am and still working around 7pm….worked non-stop. Life is not easy…..though I think, it is true fact every where in this world…

Sooo Bizi

Posted by: lyksell on: December 31, 2008

Was very busy with other stuff until I almost forgot how to log into my blog ! Was disappointed with no traffic to my blog, and I am clueless of how should I increase the traffic, I think that’s the main reason I have been ‘not in mood’ to blog !

I was venturing into something else, something about ‘skim cepat kaya’! Reading some on FOREX trading, and also, taking up the serious start on Unit Trust Selling !Though, my first start was quite bad, rejected straight by the face from my dearly sister !!

But I think I am OK with that, I will keep myself motivated and head to my different journey….
